Spoonsnap turns cooking videos, links, photos and typed ideas into recipes you can cook. This page explains what the app collects, why, and what you can do about it. Questions? Contact us.
What we collect
- An anonymous account. The app creates a random identifier on first launch. We don’t ask for your name, email address or phone number.
- What you send to be turned into a recipe. Videos and photos you share or pick, links to posts and pages, and dishes you describe in text.
- What the app makes for you. The recipe (title, ingredients, steps, nutrition estimates), a photo, and for links the creator’s name, handle and the link itself.
- Questions you ask the chef about a recipe, and the answers.
- Your kitchen activity. Favorites, renames, serving sizes, grocery lists, recipes you’ve cooked, and the answers you gave during onboarding (where you find recipes, what you like to cook, how often you cook), so the app works across launches and suggests what to make.
- Purchase status. Whether you have Spoonsnap Pro. Payments are handled by Apple; we never see your card details.
- Basic server logs. IP address and request times, used for security and rate limiting.
How we use it
Only to provide the service: turning what you send into recipes, answering your questions, showing your recipes and grocery lists, and unlocking what you paid for. We don’t sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps and websites.
How long we keep it
- Uploaded videos and photos are deleted from our servers about 24 hours after they are processed.
- Your recipes, questions and lists stay until you delete them.
- You can ask us to erase everything tied to your account at any time: contact us.
Who helps us run Spoonsnap
We share data with these providers only as needed to operate the service:
- Google (Gemini API), which reads the video, photo, page or text you send and writes the recipe, its photo and the chef’s answers. It receives that content, not your identity.
- Apify, which retrieves a public post when you share a link. It receives the link.
- A hosting provider that runs our servers and stores your recipes.
- RevenueCat, which tells the app whether your subscription is active. It receives your anonymous identifier and purchase status.
- Apple, which processes purchases and delivers notifications.
Camera, photos and notifications
The camera and photo library are used only when you choose to snap or pick something to turn into a recipe. Reminders (tonight’s pick, the day before a free trial ends) are scheduled on your device and only if you allow notifications.
Children
Spoonsnap is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your data, or to object to how it is used. Contact us and we will respond within 30 days.
Changes
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we will update the date above and note the change in the app.
